corn husk/silks

This morning I threw in three corn cobbs broke in half and watched my Delaware and Barred Rock swallow the husks whole. Needless to say being a first time chicken owner I was a little freaked, but they seem to be fine. I asked another friend and he told me he gives his chickens the husks, but never watched them eat them. He said they are always gone and he's had no issues.

I hang my fresh cobs of corn on a string and my chickens love it. I am hesitant to give them the husks and silk.
