You might try Brahmans… maybe do some crossing with them? They are good sized birds, active, slower growers than Cornish X

You obviously are clueless about meat birds, your poll is ridiculous.Yeah but it’s crazy that they grow that fast! I don’t agree with that!
It depends on what you want pet, eggs or meat......Cornish Cross were bred for meat, they selected the best of the best to achieve the end results.Yeah but it’s crazy that they grow that fast! I don’t agree with that!
So the point of them is to grow as fast as they can but also ruin their life even though they don’t have one? Didn’t mean for you to be offendedYou obviously are clueless about meat birds, your poll is ridiculous.
What is the point of this thread?
They can have a decent, if short, life. Mine would follow their stepmom around the yard and try to sit in my lap. But I only had a few and kept one past 12wks for breeding. Most of my flock are out of her 3 cockerels. So the point of them is to grow as fast as they can but also ruin their life even though they don’t have one? Didn’t mean for you to be offended
The point is that their life is only meant to be 5-10 weeks long. It would be like trying to keep a human alive several decades or more beyond 100 years. Humans have created these birds through 100+ years of cross breeding to fit our systems. They need not be compared to an animal that is genetically wired to live and survive in the wild. They simply would cease to exist if the grid went down for longer than a few weeks. So the point of them is to grow as fast as they can but also ruin their life even though they don’t have one? Actually, the point is for them to grow fast and stay healthy until they reach butchering age.So the point of them is to grow as fast as they can but also ruin their life even though they don’t have one? Didn’t mean for you to be offended
I have two Cornish x hens that are going on 7 months. I open the door and they find a cool spot in the yard to sit all day. I let them out after they had their fill. Then I let my heritage breeds out and lock their feeder, so the Cornish Cross won't eat themselves to death. So the point of them is to grow as fast as they can but also ruin their life even though they don’t have one?
