At 6.5 weeks I have a bird that weighs 9.8lbs. He started having trouble walking and seemed to be stressed, so he was harvested. Is it unusual for the bird to be that weight at 6 weeks? They others weigh around 5-7lbs. I do not restrict food and they spend all their time in a very large coop.

Some meat birds grow faster than others. Butchering time is between six and eight weeks. It's normal for birds to get big fast, it's what they are breed for.

I found that Broiler Booster available from Murray McMurray helped with the feet and leg problems that the Cornish X are prone to. It is a vitamin supplement formulated for these meat birds and you just put it in the water

I use this and agree 100%. I have tossed 6lb birds over a 5ft fence and their legs are just fine. I use the Broiler Booster 5 days/week for the first couple weeks and then taper off.
