cornish game hens

Keep us posted on how you like them when processed. They look like Red Sex Links to me. Not a cross of " heaviest dual purpose breeds still in existence". Hope it works for you. If they are RSL's you will not get a large breast from the boy either. They are egg layers, not dual purpose. I think a 4 pound carcass will be bony.
Good luck

I also ordered Red sex-links layers so the chances they have sex-link genetics is probably pretty good. Yes I'll keep you posted, I'm leaning to the option of building a second run and letting them reach maturity but I'm not sure, It's either split the flock and change there feed or split the flock to give more elbow room. The coop and run are parallel to the barn so all i really have to do is build two 6 foot end walls and cut a poop door in the brooder to accommodate the extra birds either or i have to buy more feed now so i will make the decision real soon . My dad was not to keen on me cutting through the wall of the barn but in my 42 years it would not be the first time i didn't listen. I also have the option of converting my old ice fishing shack into a coop< i planed on doing for turkeys just not this year.

Hello
The poultry industry does have color sexable broilers. If you google Lloyd Petetson. Or Peterson Industries you will find this information.
You can go to color sexable Patent.
Thanks....NJNick

Interesting read, thanks. According to the patent the birds should revert to all white by a suitable age.
Where can a backyarder get color-sexed broilers? I haven't seen them available/
Thanks

I really do not know. How you can obtain them. They are available. But to who. I can not tell you. There is the top breeders of broilers. They do not let most of there secrets out.
If you wanted to purchase 25,000 of those eggs or chicks. They may consider selling.
If you look hard enough on the internet. You can find almost anything....NJNick....Thank you

This thread makes me laugh. The blind leading the blind. This is the type of bird you folks need to be raising. Period

They are some nice Standard White Cornish. They look like the Louis Straight stuff. Is that the correct way to spell his name. I think a former member of this site. Had or still may have the same.
Not everyone can get Standard White Cornish. So I do not know if you are showing off or busting peoples chops. For having such nice birds.
I have some WL Reds with Dark blood in them. That have more leg or height then yours. But may take some time to get pure White.
Very good looking birds...Thanks for the pics.....NJNick

They are a touch soft feathered.

Eventually, I hope to offer white eggs to the public. I do have other options right now, they're just not white. Nearly exact same birds though.

The former member you are thinking of, didn't have this bloodline. My start came from a current member under the handle big medicine.
