cornish rock cross lay eggs?

Not only this, but their performance is going to be entirely dependent on which specific cross you get. A Ross CX is going to be different than an Aviagen one, etc. Most people don't know exactly which ones they have. These birds are the product of a planned cross between several different lines that have been linebred for decades. The cross is set up to produce specific meat qualities - what you get from the birds as far as egglaying and breeding performance goes is going to be a random assortment of the traits in the parent lines.

Can you explain this more? We use to get the Ross 308, I thought they were made by Aviagen. Though we don't do cornishX anymore, I have been thinking about getting a few and putting some of the ladies out with the free range flock. Is there a a strain of broiler that would be better for this?

I have some half breed CX's (toads) . I have a rooster and a hen their mother was a Dixie rainbow.

I have 7 pure CX's pullets/hens (they have yet to lay an egg).

I will be hatching any eggs I get as soon as I get them. These will be 3/4 frog and 1/4 toad.

Toad is a CX half breed, I decided they needed a name. A frog is a second generation CX.
I love the names! oh, and how does your second generation look? So you bred with a CX roo? How old are your CX hens that haven't laid yet? Because i've noticed CX's are like silkies in the fact they lay very late, but they are good layers. Good luck hatching!

Quick question for you guys - Is this a Cornish X? She was sold to me as a white Plymouth rock along with my barred rock but some have said she's definitely a cornish X. She's around 18wks old. I ask because she doesn't really seem to have the characteristics described for the Cross. She is very active, has no problem walking away from food, she's no bigger than my BR and the only time she is inactive is when she's dust bathing. She is my 1st and only bird of this breed and she free ranges and gets along beautifully with the rest of the flock. She is also ready to lay as she's been singing the egg song and trying to make a nest on my chair on the porch. I guess I'm looking for a definite answer so any help is appreciated :). Thanks in advance!

I breed toads to toads now. I have some amazing (iMHO) birds. These are Bert pictures, I will try to get some of his offspring soon.

. Thanks in advance!
If she isn't dramatically larger than the Barred Rock, she's a White Rock, not a Cornish X.

She is a white rock of some kind. BUT those legs are not thick enough to be a CX. The breast is not large enough either. OR she is a dwarf CX with skinny legs.
