CORNISH ROCKS USED FOR CROSSBREEDING??

So I guess the white gene is associated with those big breast muscles for the most part. Those hens are really nice looking. Are they good layers?

The black are great layers, the barred aren't bad but I didn't get any pullets last year.. the white are mixed.... basically if they are meaty they don't lay as much

Just trying to keep the same and healthy. I also have a heritage dark Cornish rooster I am using this year. He matured slowly and I am not sure if he will add anything or not. 2 months ago most of his eggs weren't fertilized. But the batch that just hatched they all were fertilized.

The 4 from the first batch, the black is the only pullet

I wonder what they’ll look like at maturity. I would think the dark Cornish will keep them from growing as quickly and having as many health issues. Are those chicks the offspring of the dark Cornish with your cross hens? My plan, now whether or not this works is beyond me but, I was going to cross my buff laced Brahma rooster that’s around 32” tall with the CX pullets. He’s huge framed but doesn’t have a ton of meat. I would think that if some of the offspring got a bone structure similar to his it would offset the squatty, masses of muscle on the Cornish rocks and hopefully more evenly distribute it. Brahmas are also very slow growing so that could benefit the offspring as well.

Yes . Not sure which ones, but he has 9 whites and 2 blacks... also a part bo, but she is the broody so I don't think any of her eggs made it into the batch

I am working on the project Ixworth x White Bresse= Breworth. The egg start hatching yesterday. I am big on taste so will see how it turn out in 5 months. How is the taste of the slow growing Cornish X?
