Ya bunch of Enablers!!!!!

I just figured if you're breeding Cornish, good sense is likely not that high a priority to start with.

A prime example of just how correct that statement was. Earlier today two huge horses were in the front yard. My first inclination was to shoot them with a pellet rifle. I didn't do that.
Instead,When they went out in the road I grabbed some chicken feed and rope caught both of them then notified the sheriff's department. It took them a good Two hrs by two patrol cars to (maybe)find where they came from. About 3miles away. The livestock warden is off tonight. the people The horses MIGHT belong to were NOT home. So I've got two extremely large horses in the back yard munching laying pellets.
One way or another they are out of here tomorrow. I DON'T like horses. wonder what kinda eggs They lay??

JR they lay road apples-

your chickens will like to scratch through them when the horses leave. Don't give the horses much in the way of lay pellets- you can colic them, very bad. They will need water, if you have any lawn they could graze on that would be good too. Give them a chance, horses are great! I still miss mine. Most horses are nice and well behaved. I'm sure (I hope!) their owners will be totally freaked out that their horses got out and will be very grateful you've looked after them.

They have plenty of fresh water, didn't think about colic. They didn't get a lot of the pellets....not a whole lot anyway.Good fences make good neighbors.
road apples.......Aaaaaaarrrrrgggg

Ipatelski, the perfect New Years horse- I hear you can ride them and your glass of wine won't spill.

GREAT NEWS MY CORNISH HEN IS NO LONGER BROODY. Sorry everyone I listened to my inner adult and decided NOT now you don't.
A couple of days in the wire cage with boring food (chicken pellets only) and water, no bedding or roost, was all it took. Yay!
Thanks everyone.
Plenty of time for broody hens in the spring when the chicks can be out on fresh grass.

I've got a couple of crosses I should be able to get going in February. I'm going to try the broiler rooster over a Cornish hen and vice versa.I've also got some Barred Rocks and Dorkings that will get thrown into the mix. This year is going to be about building isolation pens and breeding
