Cornish Thread

CLSranch that is the most important thing. Being happy and enjoying your birds.I don't have the right combo either. That's part of the fun (and aggravation) Getting MORE birds

I'm wondering how a Dark Cornish x Dorking would turn out. I'd have some Jersey x Cornish if I incubated them. Just waiting for spring:)

With short legs I'd bet.

Apparently that cross was popular in England. check out this Dorkings for meat birds thread:

Ooh, that makes sense. They're both originally English breeds and I bet the cross is a heck of a meat bird.

I bought my Cornish just for the setting/broodiness because of my predator problem. BTW I went for a coyote/goat walk the other day then just watched my Cornish with a .270 still on my shoulder and Red Tailed Hawk hit one of hens. For some reason it is no longer a threat. But after reading on here I'm thinking about investigating the Dorking Breed.

The hawks in the south will start breeding in February. Hatch in March.leave the nest in April.Least ways that's the cycle where I'm at.They will get very bold when the chicks hatch.

I'm north of you but probably a close range to what happens at my house. I have noticed that there is a few more around than there has been all year and worrying. Figured they wouldn't attack my Cornish LF. I was worried about my bantams. I went through my same coyote check days earlier and had more than 1 in scope and there was always a limb to be in the way.
