Oh good! I'm quite pleased with my rooster's colour

Edit: ooops he's a Buckeye, wrong thread- but never mind. I WAS pleased with my Cornish rooster's colour too, before he dropped dead.

I wasn't too happy to find a young female, hatched late last Spring, had prolapsed today and it was beyond fixing/helping her. She has been laying for about 6-weeks, even in the worst of the cold and about 5 eggs a week. I am not happy to be losing her. She was a decent looking girl who hadn't even reached maturity yet.

Oh no-

And why does it always have to be either the favourite, or the most promising? Five eggs a week is amazing...... none of mine do anything like that.

I hope that it is not an egg machine habit causing prolapses. My F2 pullet(1/2 Dark Cornish-1/2 Cornish Roaster) Lavenia is stuck in the on position. She has started to lay 8 to 11 eggs in a row with a day between. Once she laid a shell-less egg; she stopped laying for 3 days. She took a break today after her 11 day run.

That's an astonishing start- if she keeps that up, she'll be an amazing layer.
