I have 2 broody  dark cornish hens, stuck 10 eggs under one, 6 under the other- easiest incubators ever!

Automatic turner, humidity, and temp! Yup those are best but with incubator I get more eggs hatching all at once and easier to schedule when they will hatch. But Silkies have been by far the best incubating hens Ive had.

I added about 4 more eggs to my Dark Cornish the other day. I though she had 6. She got off the nest yesterday. I counted 13. Hope at least 10 make it. I have to get another pen ready for her. Something ate the last 3 batches my hens set within their 1st 2 weeks. Went to town this morning after forgetting to get a new feeder for the new pen, drove to the feed store after getting parts. The feed store wasn't open so I got gas while waiting then came home without the feeder again. 25 miles to town. I'm not going back today.

There are lots of do it yourself feeders, maybe someone is trying to tell you something ! ;-) Save your money!
Some of them are quite clever, and me personally I've always found something about the commercial feeders and waterers that ends up annoying me. Mostly poop in them and feed spillage.

My little pen (cage) I'm going to put the hen in already has a hole cut for one of those little rabbit feeders that fills from the outside and has the pan go through the wire. If I don't put that one in I'll still have a hole for the critters to get in or just a hole to fix. I ended up going to town to get it yesterday.
