I have some dark Cornish. This is the first time we have raised them. The females have a huge breast on one side. Is that normal? I thought that they had huge breast but that they would split in the center. I'm on my phone and can not add a picture at this time.

You are probably seeing a full crop.
It can make them look funny

Thanks that is what I thought it might be but I wasn't for sure.

Its really odd looking on any of the breeds that have a wider chest.

About how many months does it take a standard cornish to start to lay? I've heard they are rather slow to mature.

MIne are now seven months old. They started laying the first of Jan.

Quick genetics and lacing question.

I've got Dark Laced, Blue Laced and Jubilee Cornish and have a Dark and a nice Blue Rooster to choose from.
This years I'm setting up breeding pens for darks and 1 for Blues.

This is one of my Blue Pullets with the lacing I like.



So to improve Blue Pullets with lesser lacing, would you use a Blue Rooster or Dark?
I know both have merits but interested in your ideas.

They say that a Dark Rooster over either Blue Laced or Jubilee improve the lacing.
But she is the result of Blue x Blue.
