I have been reading about cornish and had a question. What is the difference between a cornich rock and a standard cornish? Ive never had meat birds but I want to try and raise my own. I have Cornish Rocks. Are they the same as standard? Just different name? And then I have heard cornish game hen what is that? What seems to be better meat cornish or cornish cross?

I don't know the answer to this question as I have never raise meat birds before. Here is a thread on the Cornish vs. the Crossed that might help answer this question! ......

Good luck with your meat birds and enjoy BYC!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! If I have it straight, the regular Cornish or Indian Game, is a breed developed in England from various game birds. Cornish Rocks originally were the crosses of specific strains of (usually White) Cornish and White Plymouth Rocks. What today is called Cornish X are birds produced from 2-4 or more parent strains that are selected to produce the short lived but fast growing hybrid X, the parent lines/ genetics of the commercial Cornish X are owned by huge corporations. A Cornish Game Hen is usually a female CornishX or CRock that was butchered at a young age/ size.
