Coronation Sussex Thread!

I would love a Coronation Sussex someday. There are no breeders any way near or drivably far from me. They are so rare--I hate to see them crossed.

The fellow that bought mine in February has them and he is near you but don;t know if he is selling any or even hatched any. I can ask him if he has some or not if you wish?


UPDATE: The fellow that got my birds in February only hatched 4 chicks and was not interested in selling any thing.

I just purchased a few day old chicks on rarebreedauctions. I hatched several this summer but lost all of them to my own carelessness so I am hopeful that these will grow out nicely.

In the group of 8 chicks that I just purchased, 2 were very white and the rest were somewhat yellow. One of the white ones was pretty weak and didn't survive a day and the other white was looking puny today, so I hope that I can help him pull through as I will be interested to see if there are any differences as they feather out.

I only found out about them a few months ago
they cost me €115 or $130 for the trio
They are hard to find in Ireland that's why they are so expensive
but I also sourced them from a good breeder

Wow they are quite dark.

Yes they do look darker in the pictures
They are lighter but the picture dosent pick up the lavender colour very well.
