Quality over quantity
Yeah I know.

Needed more layers though and want to try meat which is why I got more production type ones. Already got most of the pretty/for looks ones I want. :D

Probably should have gotten something different and unique though instead like the turkeys I wanted. :D

So I mentioned about having some deep frozen CX chickens I brought when I moved here. I set one in the fridge last week, and it just finally finished thawing today!
Big 7 1/2 pound mini turkey chicken is going in the crockpot tomorrow and we'll see how it fared being frozen for a longer amount of time.
It looks as fresh as it did when I first froze it so fingers crossed there is none of the funky fatty spots. Just to be safe I'll probably dig the kidneys out of the back/thigh area first and discard them. I know on turkeys they don't keep well in the freezer, even when deep frozen.

Well if we don't hear from you on Friday we'll know why! :lau

My wife and I both cook shes the proper 4 course meal and I'm the type that likes to make a big pot and eat off it a few days. So when I do she prepares the other stuff to complete her proper dinner. And I thank her every meal
I'm the same way with making stuff that I can eat off of for a few days. I'm the only one who eats vegan here so it's nice to prep my meals every weekend for the week.

Thanks haha

Oddly my day was pretty good till then. Still is. I’m okay so I think it’s funny now. :) chicken had the last laugh 😂🤣

And that’s the weird thing... we’ve had poison bait stations out for like a month at least and they’re being eaten so I don’t get it!! :barnie

I threw the rat away so the chickens wouldn’t eat it.

It was pretty big though but not the biggest I’ve ever seen I guess but still. :sick

I guess first step is removing the pile of shavings back there.

It does take some time to kill them all. I know when my bait stops getting eaten, I have good maintenance.

I think I’m gonna refill the bait blocks. They’re probably empty. And gonna clean up back there and make it uncomfortable for them haha

You may need to change to a different bait, if those rats quit eating what you have out there. Or place the bait stations in better locations.

Yeah I think I’m going to move them over by the shavings there or in front of the coop or whatever.

I hope they haven’t stopped eating it. :th

You didn’t miss anything haha literally only just ordered them a couple hours ago hahah

They don’t arrive until July.
WHAT!!!
You don't even have a place to house them.
You do things very backwards Kdog.
Very very backwards.

You killed one SICK chicken....now you think that you are going to not only kill them but butcher them too?

:th

😂🤣 I have 3 months!! I wanted to order before they sold out, which they were close to. And lots of people order way in advance.

I do have a plan and a place for them. I’m moving the old coop up onto the hill so it’s already built and everything. Just need to clean it out and move it which we’ll probably do this week.

And yeah haha I actually really want to. I’ve been wanting meat birds for a while and now I know I can actually kill something, even though he was sick.

I’ve watched a lot of videos on it/read and I don’t think butchering will be that hard.
