It's been almost a year. Dr. says it's very unlikely it'll ever be fully restored. It's ok. I was just feeling sorry for myself yesterday. I'm fine otherwise. And things could be so much worse. Y'all are so kind.
It's ok to feel bad and grieve this as a possible permanent loss and still be thankful that you are ok. It's one of the five senses and I think a lot of us take it for granted. ❤️

Me either, doesn't sound like an area that would be putting out balanced and accurate reporting.

I did. It was not a congressional hearing but a round table hosted by Sen Ron Johnson (R) Wisconsin. I would be interested in factual links to this claim because I've not heard of major reactions of the type depicted in the video.

The upside for me would be I couldn’t smell my dogs farts.

Went to a conference for work today. They made barbecue for everyone. Everyone said it smelled so good. I couldn't smell any of the food. Makes me sad that I'll never have my sense of smell back.
I didn't loose all smell and taste just some. It is really weird though. Made sure all our smoke detectors are working cause well prob should anyway but was just thinking I also didn't have confidence that I would be able to smell smoke. Still can't bleach/chlorine, can't smell or taste a cigar smells taste like air...
Know quite a few people that have said either taste or smell bad stuff like dead rotton occasionally that ain't there. That's really weird also.
I don't think there is a virus ever in history that has ever done this.

I can smell some things - fruity or sweet things. Everything else, nothing. I occasionally smell phantom cigarette smoke at random times. No one here smokes...

Hey y'all
Just saw this thread and decided to stop in to talk a bit about my experience with COVID.

About a year ago, our entire family had to quarantine for 2 weeks. This was hard for us.
We lost sense of taste and smell for about a week. We got tested, and it turned out positive.
I remember making eggs benedict one morning, excited to gobble down the meal. I took my first bite and thought, "needs more salt". I added some salt. Then some more. And then I realized I couldn't taste or smell anything. I took some Febreze (air refreshener) and put it up to my nose to verify that I couldn't smell anything. I took some cologne. Nothing.
One by one my family members lost their sense of smell and taste. It was pretty frustrating. It seemed the days that I couldn't taste or smell were the days when we had the tastiest meals.. or at least I think they were tasty - I couldn't taste or smell after all

@Aunt Angus, I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your senses (hopefully not) permanently. I really hope you get to enjoy the senses sometime soon ❤️

I hope all of you are staying healthy and safe ❤️ God bless y'all

I became sick with Covid this year during September. I’m very lucky I had my vaccinated boyfriend beside me, because sleeping without choking was a little troublesome. No one around me, including myself, had any idea on what we should do about it. We tried a freezing room and a scorching room. I haaaaaated losing my sense of taste, which took two months to get back. The biggest thing that helped me was a CBD mushroom tea. The CBD was great for the massive chest pain I had, since I was straining myself to breathe. The mushroom part was for building up my immune system. I did take a lot of prescribed medication though, so I’m not totally nuts- don’t worry. So many meds hurt my stomach :•(

The whole thing lasted maybe a month. As for how it’s still affected me: I still have trouble breathing sometimes. My lung capacity hasn’t been great for a while, but it’s doing better now. Sometimes at night it just acts up.
Never heard or tried that, looked it up cbd mushroom tea looks like some good stuff.
I'll admit I did have quite a few cups of chaga tea while I had covid. Not sure if it helped but not sure if the vaccine did either.
I found the Chaga myself, I've also run into some Reishi a few times but it was too late full of bugs no good. Thought I found lions mane once few yrs ago guy at work told me it was Bear heads tooth same family just grows different shape. That one was darn good , fried up in butter like the best crab meat ever, taste and texture the same.

Well, it’s Monday. ~72 hrs after my 2nd shot.
Symptoms were visible. I had several of the typical stuff but, thankfully it seems they were less than the 1st jab. I’m still sore in the shoulder - mildly annoying at this point.

- still wearing a mask, staying distant and limiting my contacts because of so many nin-come-poops here in Tejas.

stay healthy & as sane as possible.

/end of line

Glad you are getting over the symptoms. I never had anything other than a sore arm for a day or 2 with my 3. DW was the same with the first 2 but had a hot spot on her arm for her third (which I guess wasn't a booster but a 3rd because she has "conditions" (RA in her case). That lasted several days.

We are also being careful, though the state as a whole is highly vaccinated we are getting high numbers of positive cases daily. The fairly steep slope increase started not long after the governor lifted the mask mandates back at the end of June. The age group with the highest total number of cases is the 20-29 people (19% of the total). Followed by the 10-19, 30-39, 50-59, 40-49, 0-9, 60-69, 70-79, 80+
