I don't understand not trusting doctors. I have a boatload of doctors, lol, and they take wonderful care of me and keep me alive and mostly pain free. I've had surgery on both shoulders and I would be in excruciating pain and hopelessly crippled if I hadn't. I had my gall bladder out, again that saved me horrible pain. I've had PT for my ankle and also for my neck, and that keeps both hands functioning. I'm so thankful for the nurses and doctors who got me through Covid and other ailments I've had throughout my life. I wouldn't be here without them, God bless all medical professionals! :love

DH is worse than myself but I don't trust doctors. My reasoning? I've had high BP for YEARS. I've had 3 different doctors...been to the ER 3 times...AND NOT ONE OF MY DOCTORS DID ANYTHING. Finally I got a new doctor and she listened. In fact she said "I don't know why the ER didn't recommend you come here based on these numbers". The ER referred me to a mental health professional. So yes...trusting doctors has lead me to distrust them.

I'm glad you found a competent doctor and I'm sorry you had bad experiences with others. You did well to keep trying. If you have a medical issue, the only one that's going to be able to help you is a medical professional. Obviously you're not going to get help from a carpenter, an electrician or a mechanic. Equally obviously, as in any trade, some doctors are going to be more competent or more caring than others. You just have to keep searching until you find that one that helps you. And you did! 👍

The sheer fact that "some doctors are more competent than others" is bull. You either pass medical school or you don't. You can either read numbers on a medical chart or you can't. These are supposed to be people that are the best of the best and can monitor our health. Yes I finally found a good doctor...but she's so stressed out she doesn't have time to look over my results and be prepared when she walks into the room. But she did heed my one request: do not put my results online before talking to me

Edit: I just reread this and it seems like I was arguing so I hope you don't take it that way. I just feel very angry right now about my current state of affairs. I feel at this point you understand my character but my quarrel is not with you so I wanted to clarify that.

Nah, you're good.. i just remember an old joke my sister told me back when she was studying to get her RN: what do you call a doctor who graduates in the lower one-third of his class? Answer: Doctor. I was a teenager and I was shocked, but she made her point. Not all doctors graduate summa cum laude. Some graduate by the skin of their teeth, but they still graduate. You hope your doctor is a good or even great one, but there's no guarantee.

I appreciate your comment that you're not angry with me. I understand your frustration, and I sympathize for the reason for it. I hope you get the proper treatment ASAP and can get back to feeling better SOON. :hugs:fl

I beg to differ. Doctors, like any other tradesmen range from saints to bums.
DW has a doctor she has had for 35 years and we pay a premium for her to see him because he converted his practice to a 'concierge' practice and she lives in fear that he will soon retire. There are some others I wouldn't send a chicken to.
If you find a good one, keep them. If there a lemon, move on.
"What do you call the person who finishes last in medical school? Doctor."

PS; I type too slow. BBH beat me to the punch line.:lau

Very well put. It would seem that the no child left behind attitude applied to doctors leading us further towards an idiotcracy
