How does CBD help autism, do you know? Or have a link?
I don't have a link. It was a special on TV. Basically it followed a few families that had children with severe autism and none of the drugs that they tried were affective so they tried CBD. After telling their doctor that it helped they moved to try and get it approved by the FDA. There is currently only one FDA approved drug containing CBD and it is only for autism. All other CBD is not regulated but does undergo third party laboratory testing to regulate THC levels. That's why it's so expensive because the FDA doesn't test it.

Oh, no. They're open. Have been all year, thankfully. Kids just kind of stopped going to school. Our attendance is down to around 75%. Pre-COVID, it was closer to 95%.
No offense but Covid had me thinking a lot about how to educate my future kids. With CRT and some teachers pushing trans issues to students it seemed to me that home schooling might be the way to go. Ultimately I decided my future kids are better off socially attending school and I just have to be the witch at the PTA :lau

My kid (grandson we are raising) is mildly autistic and we have just tried to give him discipline, strategies and motivation to get him through his challenges at various stages of development. It has not been easy but he's 15 now and seems fairly well balanced and equipped to face life. I'm not sure I understand how THC could help him now. There were times his emotions were difficult for him to control and his ADHD was an issue, but certain Rx were available that helped until he refused to take it any more. But by that time he was old enough to have developed some self-discipline, so it worked out okay. Perhaps THC could have helped in the place of those Rx but ... :idunno

My adult son is on the Autism spectrum. He feels as though he is just fine the way he is and thinks the world needs to learn to accept him. He refuses to take meds (or anything else, for that matter) because there is nothing wrong with him. I know that's not true for everyone, but I thought I'd offer his perspective.

But - I tell you what - navigating childhood with him was no walk in the park. I'd have welcomed any helpful intervention...

My cousin is autistic. I recall when he was young going to my aunt's house and seeing him going into a fit. He was on the floor and my aunt was on top of him holding him down so he wouldn't hurt himself. Now that he's older he's just a very odd young man. In his teens he would talk and talk about something whether you were interested or not and insist you listen and get frustrated if you didn't. I never asked my aunt if she sought medical help. I didn't feel it was my place.

THC and CBD are both from cannabis but are not the same thing. They are sort of opposites in a way. THC is the psychoactive stuff that makes you high and is used recreationally. CBD is what is used to help emotional/neural disorders and chronic pain. CBD is commercially produced from low-THC hemp and can be purchased legally in all fifty states. THC is marijuana which is legal in some states, but not others.

Cannabis in general whether THC or CBD have been shown to help with several ailments. However the FDA requires further testing and that can only be done in the states where THC is legal. It's being tested for ailments such as glaucoma, anxiety, arthritis, cancer, nausea, chemotherapy illness, and much more.

Hey Everyone and Especially Fellow Chicken Lovers ----

I'm just gonna butt in here because I know of an entire family in Texas who are down with COVID right now, including a special needs toddler (heart condition, Down's). They all live in the same kinda smallish duplex and when one person brought it home, they all came down with it.

There's actually a connection with the CBD and THC thing. Hank is a custom glassblower who makes accessories for those who live in what's now the majority of states that allow MMJ or the states that allow recreational. As a person over 50 years of age, and now with legalization in many states, I'm more open minded to the therapeutic possibilities of cannabis than I was when I was 20 or 30 years old, when I was strongly against all that.

Hank, Betty, and the two kids are reeling economically from the required isolation and everything else that COVID has disrupted. Betty works in the service industry and has done so for years. In restaurants, you don't get paid if you're not physically present, .

Betty did her due diligence and is vaccinated (I encouraged that, but was just one of many). I don't know about Hank's vax status. The kids are way under 5 years, so they can't be vaccinated.

I just wanna say to the others on here, Please Get Vaccinated. No, the vaccines aren't 100%, but they do help reduce the amount of COVID infections circulating around that could I felt and really hurt vulnerable elderly people or children with health problems. Don't be selfish.

And, please be kind and wear a mask in crowded indoor places or at medical or dental appointments or the like. (I have mine plus the first booster. The second booster is coming up in several weeks).

Wish this were about chickens !!
