Not sure what your point is.
Sorry about that. I haven't been following this whole thread - it's too long now for me to catch up! I think I rejoined the conversation a little late and must've missed some pertinent info. I was pointing out that there are lots of ways to be productive and function without driving. I see how that would be difficult in very isolated places. My son uses other means to get where he needs to be (public transportation, walking, private driving services, carpooling). He's pretty independent, but is definitely atypical socially. He just takes care of business without small talk. He's a literal genius, but doesn't do chitchat. He kind of views ASD like Deaf culture, if that makes sense.

I do agree with you. Lots of ways to get around with out driving. The new electric bikes are very cool.

I get what you mean here. I was fortunate enough to learn sign language in college. They wanted us to go to an "event for the deaf" and i noticed they weren't very tolerant of those who are still learning. They want to talk to people that speak their language. Not teach people. And I get it. When I've interacted with people outside a "deaf event" and sign to them they respond in sign language "you speak asl?!" And I always respond I'm still learning. They usually teach me things in that case.

Pfft. I'd ride a golf cart over an electric bike anyway.
A golf cart would be useful in a city where everything is paved, but useless here, on rough and hilly dirt roads with creeks to cross. Also not sure about distances, it's 3 miles to the nearest store of any kind, a Dollar General. 30 miles to nearest Walmart. An electric bike MIGHT be useful. Not sure my kid will have the judgment to cross or drive on highways safely. Driving is driving, regardless of the vehicle.

A moment back to Covid 19; today we hit one million deaths in the USA. Awful!
Joseph Stalin would be glad, me, not so much.
Mary
I’m going to assume that it will take upwards of a decade to fully & near-as-completely discover the true total of deaths… and that number will likely be must larger when they are finished.
