I was alarmed too!!! I would starve if I ate that early given how late I usually stay up. 😂🙈

And good luck on the hatch!! What’d you set?

Like I mentioned before, the only eggs I have. Easter egger/low quality ameraucana eggs. About 5/6ths are various shades of blue and green. 1/6th are brown - not layed by the easter eggers mind you. The brown ones are layed by a really dedicated "pure" *coughcough* ameraucana that lays almost every day.
I'm going to mark the ones that hatch from the brown eggs with pink sharpie and then leg bands as their feathers come in. If I keep an eye on em when they start laying I'll have a window into the genetics of my rooster from the same "purebred" flock - does he carry Oo oo or OO? This will give me valuable information into that and then I can sell them as started pullets as soon as I have that info since they come from a brown laying hen and I don't wanna keep that in my flock.

Once I've taken about 2-3 generations to test breed the brown out of my flock I can focus on things like colors and form.

Cap, I read a good article today talking about the three potential endings for the virus. The most likely one is we don't stay in full lockdown for the whole time. The more likely scenario is that specific areas with serious outbreaks will get locked down during the duration of that outbreak and the rest of life will be normal after about the end of june.

This was an interesting read for me, as I'm in WA and I have a friend in NYC, so we've been comparing notes: https://www.yahoo.com/news/coronavirus-slowdown-seattle-suggests-restrictions-121913987.html

I think they glossed over some of the differences between WA and NY, though. For example, many of WA's cases have been and still are in nursing or care home system. And although we both have a "big city" Seattle is far less dense than NYC with an overall smaller population.

Sorry, I forgot.

Anyway, that sounds like a good plan!! I hope it goes well and you can continue improving them.

No worries. Time feels like it's passing infinitely slowly right now.

Ostara was March 19th.
That's just over 10 days ago. That's when I last saw someone outside my household in person.
That's just two days after gatherings of 10+ people were recommended cancelled by the federal govt.
So it's been about 2 weeks since that announcement. Two weeks is nothing. Think about how fast two weeks passes? But it feels like an eternity.

There are decades when nothing happens, and then there are weeks when decades happen. :T :T

It *is* a good plan, it just takes time and a lot of chicks. Too many chicks tbh. Knock on wood these ones hatch well. It would be better to get higher quality stock but I haven't been able to source it.

That’s been two weeks already!? Eff. It feels like yesterday :th

But at the same time I feel like this month has flown by 😂

My days definitely all kind of blend together though especially lately. I’ve been doing a lot of different stuff but still. Basically all the same with nothing to measure it by. I thought today was Sunday most of the day.

And I like that quote!! That is so true!!

And yeah it will probably take a while hah but I wish you luck!!
