So whenever there's stuff like this or power outages I like shopping because all the healthy foods I eat are ALWAYS in stock. I don't eat processed foods at all. Only frozen thing I eat frozen (cooked obviously) are plain veggies. All my shelf stable almond milk, rice, veggies, fruits, beans... Were all stocked without being touched.

Not much left in the produce departments or frozen veg areas here. Milk...just the higher priced stuff and not many containers of those are left. The egg case was empty here......
:wootmy girls are laying!!!

I’m very happy to be Canadian! We have universal healthcare and within the next year or two, even if it’s a little longer, we’ll also have pharmacare and dental
I depends on which state you live in. Basically we are already paying for the uninsured..in CT hospital fees are designated by diagnosis. You are billed for a simple child’s birth, however if you are uninsured..or underinsured, you can request a bill for ‘services only’ if you are paying directly. My Ins was billed $18,000. I req an exact service only bill. It was $3,800. That was the first time I saw the gouging. The ins co. use the diagnostic billing because ‘it saves them billing hours’.
Now, with Medicare, I have a deductible and an in patient hospital admit fee ..period. This Medicare for all will SAVE money.

I've lived in Vancouver. Both my husband with multiple cardiac issues and I with my chronic asthma have used BC health many times. My son who spent 10th grade in Vancouver lined up with the rest of his grade to get routine immunization in school.

I agree that you have an EXCELLENT healthcare system. Unfortunately, Americans have no idea and probably never will because they're so blinded by the we've-got-the-best-health-care-in-the-word mantra.

As Rooapalooza says, it's a fine health care system if you've got the cash and the premium insurance. It's barely adequate to adownright nightmare if you don't. And it's certainly not up to dealing with this health emergency that's about to hit us.

One thing that I think ensures great health care for Canadians is the assurance that your elected officials have Exactly. The. Same. Care. As. Every. Other. Canadian. Our elected officials would take much better care of us if they had to deal with the same conditions the rest of us do.

You are right. I have a step brother who lives in Canada. He had a brain aneurism (sp) and he received excellent care. On the other hand, a year or so ago a man here in Missouri was bitten by a poisonous snake. He called around to various hospitals to find out how much treatment would cost. It was in six figures. He decided to forego treatment rather than bankrupt his family. While the state would have paid for his treatment, when he died the state would have taken his farm and property. He wanted what he had to go to his family, not the state, so he stayed home and died.
