If you need a good read, try pandemic by Daniel kalla. It’s from 2005 I think and spooky how similar it is to our current state of affairs, right down to the type of virus and point of origin. Canadian author too!!
Not pandemic related but one of my favorite fiction books apocalyptic novels 'Alas, Babylon' by Pat Frank. I read it first time middle school 80s, then again at some point and just recently. Same with 'Path to Savagery' by Robert Edmond Alter.
Both old books but if you get bored during this 'lockdown' very good reads and short not very long. I've read both a few times and I rarely ever re-read a book. (I've read thousands)

I start with packaged seeds. I use seed starting soil and solo cups under my grow lights. I do not plant in ground. I use giant pots (1/2 barrel planters) and 3 plants to the pot. They hate getting chilled and the soil here is not warm or loose enough. Pots stay warm.
No harm in trying from fresh seeds.

Yes to the pots here too. The ground is not warm enough.
Yeah I usually buy packaged seeds too. Don’t always use them all though. Hence why I now have a million. :lau

But yeah, I use pots too and I like the Jiffy seed starting mix though any of them work. :)

I personally don’t like those expanding things as I find they somewhat trap the roots when you plant them at least they did for me and they didn’t do as well.

And that makes sense!! I’m sure that’s why. I wonder if some black trash bags or mulch over the dirt would keep the plants warmer? But for me it’s easier to just use pots. :)

I also buy this cheap like $3 potting soil at this store down the street because for some reason it works amazing for me :lau

You use grow lamps? What else do you grow? What's your address?:D

Tomatoes, cucumber, squash, bell peppers, cabbage, petunias, basil, pansies, snap dragons, zinnia, lemon balm, thyme......yup just flowers and edibles....and I mean veggies there! :lau

My grow station with the no no kitty cage around it. Yes that was before I set seeds. When the weather is good I take my tiny plants to the greenhouse for some real sun.

Nice!! I’m growing a ton of different stuff this year. Way more than usual and way more than last year (and I thought I had a lot then lol). 5 different kinds of peppers (well, 2 are basically the same thing), 5 different kinds of tomatoes, 2 types of eggplants, 2 types of peas, green beans, 3 types of onions, garlic, 4 kinds of potatoes, 6 kinds of greens (4 types of lettuce plus Swiss chard and spinach.... not that type of green LOL), 2 kinds of carrots, 2 types of beets, plus summer squash, zucchini, and cucumbers, and possibly 3 kinds of melon.

And I am so jealous of your awesome setup. :love
