I hadn't been to the store really this week but apparently when it comes to toilet paper it's pretty empty around here. My friend sent me this. He's a goofball. But I just don't understand the obsession with stocking up on toilet paper
I read an article from an psychologist that this has to do with primitive instincts. People who panic copy behaviour and tend to do what others do too. They feel safer doing the same. Even if it makes no sense.

I just heard that travel to the US from Europe has been suspended except from Great Britain. This also includes all trade.
What have you experienced, and are you experiencing shortages in your area? Have you been sick, or do you have friends or family that are?
Italy has closed commerce except for pharmacies and food stores.

Where we live (in the USA) all schools are closed, a neighborhood 5 miles from us is on complete lockdown with national guards in masks bringing them food and water. Nobody is allowed past a 10 mile radius around their homes.

Did you actually see the national guards dressed up like that?

Here they make jokes about the way the Dutch government is handling this.

Most schools are still open. Lessons in Universities and gatherings of more than 100 people are all closed.

I believe @aroostercalledBrownie is referring to New Rochelle, NY where there was an alarmingly high cluster of Covid-19 cases. The NY Governor did this to contain this specific outbreak from spreading to adjoining communities. I would hope that our members would remember to think before spewing mis-information. Make sure you are sure you are posting factual information and not hearsay. This only adds to confusion and panic. What we really need is some more of the comic relief. So bring it on!

Went to Trader Joes this morning and people were lined up to get in when they opened. The fear was palpable. I got just about everything I wanted; some items were missing. It seemed like the shelves would empty as soon as someone stocked it. Hopefully people will begin to control their fear and start acting rationally. Things don't end well when everyone is given over to fear. The virus is the least of our worries compared to the fear IMO.
