Canadians not only live longer than Americans, they are vigorous, well-cared for and active in their communities at advanced ages. I can tell you, as I get older, and I'm 73, I would MUCH rather be a Canadian senior citizen!
I have also, because my husband has cardiac issues and I've been in Canadian emergency rooms and intensive care units, I've heard an end of life consultation between a doctor and the surviving adult kids of someone who was at the end of their life. It was dignified, warm and caring for the needs of both the patient and the survivors.
You're kidding yourself if you think it doesn't happen in Canada. My friend Hollyann is Canadian. She hates the healthcare system in Canada, because it killed her dad. They prioritized him lower, due to his age (60s) when he go cancer. He died waiting in line for treatment, because younger folks got in first. Free healthcare is worthless if you can't even get treated. Sad but true story.
