I was like that too and I also HATED cucumbers but trust me, homegrown is soooooo much better!!!!! There is absolutely NO flavor in store tomatoes or cucumbers. The difference is astounding. My mom tried a cucumber last year and was soooo shocked and how much flavor it had LOL she didn’t realize they could have flavor 😂🙈 neither did I lol

And I know the conversation wasn’t about cucumbers but that’s just another one that has no flavor in stores and that I was totally surprised by.

Trust me, you’ll be amazed.

That said, I still wouldn’t say I LOVE raw tomatoes or cucumbers but I’m not a big veggie person in general and I definitely like them a lot more than store bough.
From when they start to late fall frost I just about daily have one cucumber sandwich and one tomato sandwich. Eat them all sorts of other ways just sandwiches are like a addiction for me Lol.
On toast with mayo and salt and pepper. I make them thick so have to cut them in quarters or never be able to bite them without falling apart. Never grow tired of them. Either for lunch or just cause I feel like a snack.

I just learned how to make sushi bowls with shaved cucumber and I am so excited to try it, but I have no cucumbers here 😂 my seeds better come in soon.

From the time of the first ripe tomato through mid Nov./early Dec. my lunch is a BLT, and almost every dinner includes a tomato/mozzarella/Bibb lettuce/balsamic vinagrette salad. I stretch it this far by bringing all non ripe tomatoes into the cellar just prior to the first killing frost. I miss my tomatoes. If you can find them, try a couple of Mortgage Lifter plants.
