I am over prepared 😂 I have fertile duck eggs laid daily, fertile chicken eggs laid daily... Now I'm going to do quail once I get the eggs.

I'm doing my gardens and I'm going to make sure I'm on top of gardening this year so that Im getting every bit of food I can.

I think it's easier to be vegan through this pandemic because produce can be found everywhere, but you can rarely find any meat here.

Same here, I've been on top of my gardening game like never before :'), our older girls started laying recently which is great as well.

I'm not sure if any of you discussed this, but have any of you guys seen how crazy everyone is going over buying chicks! The other day I went with the family to try and get some Australorps, but it was such a mission! It seems everyone is trying to start a flock like it's the end of the world! It kind of worries me, because despite the tons of info there is on raising chicks, there are always people who won't read. I have a feeling a lot of chicks are going to be dieing off in people's brooders 😒😞

@FortCluck The thing is you want to be over prepared, if this pandemic lasts longer and doesn't spread rappidly, less lives and resources will be lost!
Local FB group people asking if their 1 wk old ducklings need heat

In the article, I saw that people aren’t keeping the chicks warm.
It’s probably a good idea for us to set up quarantine pens now. In a few months, people are going to be leaving chickens at our doors, and unless we bring them to the already over crowded shelters, we will need to be prepared.

Yess!! My TSC had totally empty chick bins when I went a week or two ago! It was crazy!! Usually they have like maybe a bin or two empty sometimes but not every single one!!! I haven’t been back to see if they got more in or not. Our local feed store I think just got their first batch of chicks in this last week.

But now they’re closed to customers so I can’t go check.

As soon as any commercial place near you gets chicks RUN, we stopped at a feed store about an hour after the chicks arrived and they were practically ALL GONE! Apparently upon opening (before they even got chicks), people had been coming in waiting for them to get them in!

This is our local store. Nursery is still open but you can’t go in. Not sure what they’re going to do about the chicks especially since they have tons more shipments coming in.

Oh wow that is insane!!! I don’t think our store is quite that crazy but idk.

I don’t think I really have the room for more chickens atm so for me it’s good they’re out of chicks :lau

Plus I’m hoping my cockerel starts mating soon and I can hatch some of his chicks. But it will probably be a while.
