The Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy -- and a few other things -- make crazy urban Los Angeles habitable.

We're lucky not to live very far from it. Here's a map. Everything with color and definition is open space -- mostly gorgeous open space. The pale yellow is development. We live in that area ringed by the Conservancy. My grandson's school is plunked in a canyon right on the boundary. On their outdoor school days they hike into the mountains.

I don’t think I could ever live somewhere like that. I couldn’t even live in Boston lol too many people. Fun to visit but I need my space and green and trees, gardens, chickens, a yard, etc. there’s no trees lol
