Lorili, You are well on your way to being a farm girl! If it's in your mind and heart, demographics soon follow!
Oh it’s totally in my blood. My friend and I talk about running away to live in Montana and have a farm. Not sure either husband has an interest but I know I do. I was raised in a big city and live in a typical boring suburb. But my friend keeps asking to use my yard for chickens and I keep saying yes...I want goats. And pigs. And vegetables. Those I’ve done but the animals always gettem. Thing is we kinda don’t care. It’s fun to watch them steal the food. They think they are tricking us but we’re watching from the window laughing. Kinda defeats the purpose I guess.

This stay at home thing is making me crazy. I used to get out once a week, now it's once a month. Not enough. Plus no chicken swaps or sales, so the chicks are piling up! Luckily there's a good demand. Selling some today. View attachment 2102069
They are so cute!!! OMG

First off, friend. I never judged you for What you did with RED. Most of my comments were aimed at making or attempting friendly punns. I'm very sorry for your loss of RED.
Secondly, I don't expect anyone to handle their pets (feathered or furred) the way I do. My life isn't "Kittens and rainbows" but as for true friends, I have very few, and I made my chickens my family. Confession: My own three children are afraid of me due to an ugly divorce. My children know full well the power I still hold in government. Reason for the divorce was I wanted a bigger more comfortable home for us all, X wife would not back me up on that. Nor would she back up my aspirations for a mayoral position in southern Ca. That's why I left and moved to DC. Closer to my main USMS office!
Just don't think i'm judging you about Red.
Sorry, completely misinterpreted that. :hide

And I’m sorry about your family. :hugs

It's not too late. Think about how long a pack of meat stays good in the fridge.
You can still contact a local vet about testing because they might have a faster in with the state lab, or be able to direct you where to go/who to contact directly.
That’s true!! But I haven’t even checked it or added more ice since I did it so I’m sure it’s bad :hide but then again maybe not considering it’s been below freezing the past two nights. The lady actually just called me back finally, apparently the message didn’t go through till now, but not sure if I’ll call her back or not considering the body’s somewhat old now and I think they usually need fresh samples but idk. I was thinking I might try doing it myself. But maybe I should just start by going and checking on the body hah

Omgosh poor meatloaf. A big fat prick. Is that someone here?
No no, meatloaf the singer.
Rest assured no byc’er would ever call another that! Unless meatloaf has chickens, and he’s a member of byc and uses a pseudonym? Hahaha

I have missed you all. Haven’t been online much because my two small kids take much of my free time and recently they have renounced naps (mostly). I’m an introvert, designed for sheltering in place. As long as I have my family, animals, and garden, i’m content. I dearly miss church and visiting my parents. The news is distressing. For a while, my hospital (behavioral health) was threatening to “redeploy us to areas of need” and “to discipline us if we refused.” I worked in med-surg for 4 years, but it was a miserable experience at its best, and I’m years out of practice. Anyway the threat seems to have dissipated for the moment. I ordered some chicks for June so we have something fun to look forward to. Seriously contemplating getting some goats—not sure what breed. Should get meat goats for practical reasons, but I like the looks of Nigerian dwarfs (milk goats). Perhaps I’ll just make them pets. Probably I’m too much of a wuss to eat them anyway. My SIL breeds guinea hogs—seriously contemplating them too. At any rate, projects are good. The news is bad. I hope all of you are well and staying safe.

Good to see you, @TwoShepherds . So what is the story on behavioral health? Is it shut down for now? I have a very close young relative that probably needs 72 hours in a safe place if you know what I mean. She's not a user, just a young abuse victim that really needs a time out. I am afraid for her ...

I am very sorry she is still so poorly feeling. :hugs

Timing was bad too. July arrival meant November processing at the earliest which is cold and miserable.
That’s very true!!! I think in my head I was thinking it’d be October but even then mid to late October would be miserable too haha

Although, no bugs 😂🤣

I might try getting some birds for spring maybe or quail or something.
