Now I feel like I should get that DNA test done just to see if I'm really me.
Maybe I'm trying to not get tested just so I don't find out I'm not me but not even realising what I'm doing or the not me isn't doing?
Funny, that. I know a fellow who was different from all of his siblings, short, swarthy & stocky to their tall, slender blonde. His father treated him horribly. His Mom doted on him. After both passed, and aunt clued him in on an old story ... and he he acted on his hunch. And that's how I met my eldest cousin! True Story!!!

Yup ... a "Welcome Home from the War" fling! The whole family moved from MD to the deep south over it. My cousin suffered in silence all his life, never understanding why he was different or why his Dad was so hard on him. He thought it was because he wasn't as athletic as his siblings and just kept trying harder. As soon as I met him, I knew he was one of "Us." He fit in beautifully!

Oh wow that’s really sad!! :( I don’t get why the dad would treat him like that? I mean, I get it, he’s not “his” and mad at wife or whatever but.... it’s not the kid’s fault??? Bet that kind of messed the kid up a bit. Were the siblings at least nice to him?? I’m glad he finally found you guys!! :D

It was a long time ago and things like that just didn't happen in "nice" families. And yes, it was hard for him. He was always so apologetic and worried that he'd stepped on someone's toes or feelings. And yes, his siblings were decent with him. The eldest actually remembered the whole situation & kept it from him, at her mother's request. That had to be really hard one her, too, keeping a secret like that from her little brother. He was such a sweet guy. I wish I'd had more time with him, but he lived far away (luckily, visiting frequently.) He passed way too early, just a few years ago with the curse of my father's family ... a bad heart. I miss him!
An interesting aside - I don't have to worry about getting my DNA tested or not. My father did, to give Freddie a family baseline, so we're already in the proverbial system!
