Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

I've only been to one place that sells chicks and they did sell out a bit sooner but it took a couple weeks for each batch.
Last year they usually still had a few and discounted them when the new batch arrived.
Haven't been to any TSC stores. They might of been a different story since they're located in larger cities and that's were the urban chickeneers shop.

How's the chicken market in everyone's area now days?
I'd been hearing stories about there being a shortage because of covid 19.
Been watching CL and seems my area has been business as usual regarding prices and availability.
We're a rural area so chickens have always been easy to find and prices are a lot lower then in the big cities and other states.
Today I finally found one. Someone's got an ad up selling started pullets (10 weeks old, common breeds) for $50 each and chicks for $15. Other ads have hens priced from $8 to $15.
Their ad starts out with some gibberish about being prepared and how anyone can find a cheap farm chicken but not to buy a good enough chicken but to buy the best. Which is what theirs are.
Just wondering if anyone's seeing shortages or inflated prices?
I've heard there is a shortage, but I picked up six BB white turkeys for $1 ea at TSC last week, should've bought them all and re-sold the one's I didn't want on Craigslist. Plenty of chicks there also.
Waiting for better weather here and going to start hatching Pekin duck eggs, might be able to sell them easy if people are going buy yard bird happy. Going to hatch Naked Necks I've crossed with Jersey Giants also but not sure if there is much of a market for them here. Too many people think the beautiful birds are ugly. Ultimate best dual purpose breed there is IMHO great layers and pretty good meat birds also. Bonus half the feathers to pluck and absolutely no 'hair' to singe off. Super cool birds

Booger collecting it's the new thing. I get blood tests so often at the hospital that they've had my dna for years 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don't fear the unknown and honestly I don't care about it either. I live for today not for tomorrow.

I'll watch your grumpy dog!!! I love dogs whether they're grumpy or not!
You sure you are going to a hospital for those tests? It could be Dracula's Castle made to look like a hospital? Sorry it's early, and I have no coffee.

Lol.
I'd had those yard buzzards on and off for decades.
Have always been one of my wife's favorites.
Hardy as h£ll and when I had comets my buzzards where toe to toe with them on production.

When I was in school (a million years ago) they never taught us anything about Native Americans, nor the holocaust .

Then too the very important contribution three black women, who were quicker and smarter than the computers at the time, made in the space race. Check out the movie, "Hidden Figures." Everyone in the movie theater was saying "we didn't know that!" Made me wonder what else the government didn't want us to know.

I'd still be careful.

Because recessive traits of grandfathers and grandmothers can show up in the grandchildren and be mistaken for rowdy mailman scenarios.

I have a relative who got hair color from her grandfather for example. And when you compare her with the aunt's kids, its very clearly the grandfather's genes, even though the parents had different hair than that grandfather. But the aunt has the grandfather's hair also.

Genes can sometimes manifest weirdly also and jump generations. Like in family pictures sometimes you'll find people that looked like what their great grand parents looked like when they were young.
There is much more to it than that, but thank you.
Everything you learned about the pilgrims was probably a lie 😂 trust me on that. I did a history class in college and about threw up learning about the time of the pilgrims. I have a lot of respect for the Indians that lived in this country.
It is amazing how typical "history" classes omit or reshape what is called history in this country to hide the ugliness and the things done to "tame" America.
I think we are just beginning to see some of the other things this virus can do. I saw a segment where Dr Fauci was speaking about the ways this virus is starting to show itself in the blood and with clotting issues. He specifically mentioned that they have been assuming it's just a respiratory issue but it's not.

Business as usual other than an odd ad here or there asking $150 for a breeding pair of chickens. Though there have been less chick ads but normal amount of everything else.

Any volunteers to mow, till, plant, weed, clean the cat box, clean parrot cages, or cook meals for me?

🥺 Didn't think so.

How about tending the dogs, chickens, ducks?

Construction?

Laundry?

:idunno

Well....I better get to it then. 😳
I would help you with all of it if you were my neighbor. I definitely like cooking!

'History is written by the winners!' Somebody said that first, and it's true. And being educated means continuing to 'read up' on things, beyond seventh grade!
This year, reading up on past pandemics is a good idea, rather than listening to politicians, especially some politicians...
And back in 'olden times' when I went to grade school and high school, a lot more was taught.
