Can we just have our friendly thread back, without being accused of being "tyrants?"

I stopped posting because it has become a hostile place. But sourland is right! Put people on "ignore" and let them talk to one another while we go on being a community.

It's snowing today, and then colder for the next week or so. More normal January weather, it's been mild until now. And almost February! More daylight, and short month, all good.
I haven't let the chickens out yet, and doubt that they want to play in the snow right now. Pretty to look at, from inside.
Time to make soup!

It snowed in freakin' Malibu a few days ago. Here on the other side of the hill it's chilly but the rain brought our spectacular Rose Bowl Parade skies. My chickens, meanwhile, didn't mind the rain at all and strolled around their yard as usual. ...something I don't have many opportunities to observe.

On the Covid front, I'm reading Moderna is suggesting a 3rd booster shot to deal with the newer variants of the original virus. Haven't heard what Pfizer's strategy about the mutations is.

We got snow today! Not much in this area, but we so need moisture! St least the mountains got sone. We rely on the snow in the mountains for spring run off into our lakes.

I dont consider opposing views hostile I consider them as having intelligent conversation. If I'm only willing to talk with people who share my point of view I will miss opportunities to learn something new.

Here's my manifesto.

I'm all for kindness. All for information. All for people being able to express themselves. All for info and intellect guiding people's personal decisions. I don't think anyone here needs to convince anyone not near and dear to them of anything. And I'm all for Darwin resolving the unresolvable.

I didn't like it when the admins wouldn't let me talk about what was important to me during the election so I'm not going to try to shut anyone else down. However, the admins have provided us with a very useful tool. I've used it a handful of times in my time here but I've found that it calms things tremendously for me while continuing discussion -- even well meaning discussion -- between people who will never agree just fuels more contention.

Those are the principles I operate by. Hope you all work out your own.
