The federal government and states can make a policy and have an actual sincere intention to get people vaccinated without regard to their immigration status but that doesn't mean people who've risked a lot to get here and who live with constant insecurity of being deported are going to believe it.

Yeah, what those National Guard troops were called on to do and how unprepared DC was to take care of them was awful. So you think your nephew has Covid, h2oratt? I hope he doesn't or will have an easy go of it. Fingers crossed!

Yes, they tested him and he was positive.. then his wife was positive. They would not release him. Made him work around others.

My yoga teacher got the vaccine Saturday. She is 75. No side effects. She had gotten covid this summer. She wasn’t hospitalized but had a rough three days of high fever.

Laughing my butt off that I finally got an acknowledgment from Pfizer declining my offer to be part of their clinical trials. I guess this means the clinical trials are over....

Along with over 100 additional countries. Wearing seatbelts is also required by law in most states. It's unlawful to drink alcohol while driving, too. These are all health and safety issues that affect everyone, so everyone must do our part. Small sacrifices BY all enable more safety FOR all.

The U.S. tried the voluntary route for nearly a year and you see where that got us. I agree with you; government mandates on behavior should only be used as a LAST resort, after politely asking people to do the right thing. After the population overall proves that they won't make that choice to accept a small sacrifice for the greater good, the government has no choice but to make it mandatory.

Just a friendly reminder that whenever you come up to speed that some people aren't influenced by the truth or general regard for others you can put them on ignore. It has the effect of silencing them while beating the dead horse sorta reanimates them.
