How bizarre is it to get excited about going to get a vaccination?

Yes, our perspectives have definitely changed this past year. Going to the post office is the thrill of the week around here!

@IamRainey same good experience on the second shot. Got to clinic at 1:20 and left at 1:47. Now the wait to see if there is a reaction. We made an 'outing' of it. Stopped at White Castle drive thru for burgers. Major excitement.

So glad to hear it! It's good to think that they're learning, adapting and getting more efficient. There are a LOT of people yet to go!

I'm hoping to discover that our favorite restaurants have been able to hang on.

I feel like the groundhog poking my nose out of the hole to see if it's Spring yet. ...but I hope we never have the Bill Murray experience and have to go thru this again!

Do you feel 'safer' now that you are vaccinated?
Will it change your pandemic habits?

I feel safer, but not safe enough to change what I've been doing. And until all the folks are actually vaccinated, really not all that safe.
Talked to our adult granddaughter today, and she and her hubby have decided that they won't get vaccinated. "It's just not safe enough". Really. Makes me crazy, getting sick is so much more fun...

My husband said he was going to wait and see if my mom and I turn into zombies before he got his. He though does not have a choice and we are making him get one!

I was able to get my vaccine 2 weeks early due to a pop-up clinic specific to my eligibility group. The clinic was very well organized and I was in and out within 45 min, including a 15 min observation period for safety. I didn't even feel the needle go in, but within a few hours my arm was in significant pain. The pain lasted almost 2 days and disappeared as quickly as it came on. I feel so relieved to be on the way to safety and freedom.

I feel safer. Maybe even safe -- full stop. I've been going about my business since the lockdowns started. Haven't had my nails or my hair done. Haven't been in a store that isn't a grocery or a drug store but, short of that, if an errand needed doing, I did it. I did it with my mask and more lately an acrylic face shield as well. I never gloved up but I wiped anything outside my house with an antiseptic wipe before I used it.

In all this time, I had 3 scares followed by negative tests. So, armed with my vaccine, I feel really confident again. I'll continue to mask. Little enough to do to make others feel more secure. I'll skip the face shield now. I'll limit the antiseptic wipes to something that really looks like it needs cleaning. I've always been a believer in giving my immune system a regular workout to build it up. And I'm looking forward to going in shops and restaurants again and having the family feel free to come and congregate in time for the summer heat and our pool. Also looking forward to when my adult kids and my 10yo grandson have their protection too!

Meanwhile, I'll be listening to the news. If there's anything about new variants to be wary of or advice about boosters I'll take whatever appropriate steps. But I feel a confidence I haven't in a long time. And I'm already loving it!

I feel somewhat safer, but with the emergence of the many variants I will continue to pretty much do things as I have for the past year. I will feel more secure visiting family as most are working/schooling from home. Social distancing is not particularly difficult for me, and for me masking for many reasons just makes sense. My goal is to have a Cracker Barrel breakfast during off hours.
