Not answering Krogers situation don't know anything about them but most businesses paid,
Why? Because they weren't paying for it...
Originally, during beginning of covid, fed govt (taxpayers) were. I'm not looking up dates right now but beginning any time off was paid by fed govt (us), then it changed and was if a company makes/forces a employee to stay home if they are positive or have symptoms or was in close contact with a positive covid and forced to quarantine the fed govt reimbursed a tax break for the cost. Then sometime this fall? Nothing anymore, if a company/business has to keep someone home they get no funding for it... But the employee can still file for FMLA, federal medical leave act (this might be just here state of NY?)
Not sure on that here in indiana. I know if my hubby were to contract covid he's paid for all his time off. But hes in a union. It might be different state by state. Here testing and vax are still free. Hubbys work is requiring all new hires be vaxxed but cant force it on existing employees due to union contract laws. They can force it for new hires because we are considered a "right to work" state and you can opt out of the union. Not answering Krogers situation don't know anything about them but most businesses paid,
