I always thought the Japanese wore masks bc of the horrible air quality there. Or is that China?
Nope. The Japanese culture is based on respectfulness. It is considered rude to put soy sauce on your rice because you are being disrespectful to the farmers who made the rice. It has only become accepted in the culture due to westerners touring. That being said they wear masks because they must continue to work even when ill but prevent others from illness

Thank you for the enlightenment.

That is China.

I visited my friends when they lived there for a few years. And have a cousin who emigrated to Japan. Air pollution is overwhelmingly worse in China than Japan. I don't doubt that many more people wear masks when illnesses are going around but it is pretty clear that many people in China wore them for the pollution. Obviously more masks on the days of worse pollution. This was before covid, of course.

We have some of that idiocy here in the USA also.
The CDC finally admitted not too long ago cloth and paper medical masks are just for show.
And try putting ketchup on a hotdog in Chicago. They don't allow you to, only children can. Ketchup supposedly taints the flavor of the dog and is disrespectful to the butcher.
Acceptable wiener toppings include mustard, relish, onions, cheese and chili.

I can confirm this because I lived downtown for 3 years. A chicago dog comes with tomato on it. Thats the reason for no ketchup. Itd be like doubling down on the tomato and would ruin the balance of the ingredients. But I dont like raw tomatoes so one chicago dog hold the tomato. Oh and can I get some ketchup...for my fries?

Called the phone store about my upgrade 10 minutes after they opened. The guy said he had it in stock. Got dressed and rushed out the door but because I live in the middle of nowhere it took me 20 minutes to get there. He just sold the last one as I walked in the door. I made a 40 minute round trip for nothing. I'm gonna camp outside that damn store on friday before they open. This is some bull....

I am no fan of ketchup, though I will use lots of BBQ sauce. I feel the same way about stake sauce. It is my choice however.
