Hi guys. I
I know you are all American and pronounce all your Ts as Ds, but in this one instance the correct word for the things hanging down from your chicken's neck is: WATTLES. Spelled with 2 Ts.
Ducks waddle to the water.
And before you give me flack, and scream at me not to judge etc : I ain't judging, but free education is a gift!

THANK YOU for pointing this out. Using the word 'waddles' is rampant on BYC and it bugs me too. I don't know if it started with auto correct, or what. I mentioned it once, long ago, to no avail and have let it go ever since, tho if I do respond to someone's question where the word happens to come up, I use the right word in my answer.

Thank you so much!!! I've thought about starting a thread just like this.

Where are you from?

And while we are at it, can we please have a Roll Eyes reaction emoji. The current ones do not adequately convey the range of reactions I'd like to give. It will save many a thread from being actively ignored through gritted teeth or snarky comments left 😂

Maybe I'm just a miserable old bint.

You're welcome. I wonder if someone could make a little emoji with a chicken head and an arrow and the word WATTLES, like the Welcome to BYC thingy?

Thank you, thank you I am a retired newspaper editor (which certainly does NOT mean I don't make mistakes in my posts; even editors have editors at the paper), and once an editor, always a nitpicking reader.

I spent YEARS trying to convince folks that the holiday is St. Paddy's -- a nickname for Patrick in Ireland -- not Patty -- a female nickname. I wish you success in your effort!
