Looking for Parasite sources in Coop Bedding Materials

Here we fed our chickens in their coop or run only, never outside of their area. Food out there will attract lots of critters, and some won't be as benign as your turkeys!

Poultry protector spray isn't going to solve a mite or lice issue.
Neither will DE.
Get permethrin and spray everything and everyone weekly for no less than three weeks if you want to rid the nasty bugs.

Also... Make sure rodents aren't getting into your area. They carry the bugs in too.

I dump my wood stove ashes where they love to dust. This is supposed to help with the mites. I never seem to have a problem.
i add the DE to their food occasionally when I see signs of loose stools. It quickly gets rid of the parasites in their bodies. My birds free range and we occasionally get the wild neighbors visiting.
