correctional center employees .................a shout out to ........

Wow Rufus, I have worked in Corrections a long time and never had those experiences. I think a lot of it depends on your respect for yourself and how you carry yourself. dc

thanks to all, yes this job would help with the budget .
right now i make minimumwage and work 30 hr a week , been here 7 years and the only time i got a raise was when =wage went up.
they just can't afford it , I make less than 11, K per year , but i do have insurance , which i pay 20 % of ! LOL .
If I don't get the Correctional Center Job, I will ask to drop my insurance and get the money in a salary increase , that would be about 5 K per year .

best part of all is it would only be an extra 15 minute drive to the new job !
Right now i work 15 min from my farm ( in the boon docks ! ).
so there are some good things , just need more income right now.
thanks again for your comments .

BTW prison ARNP , thankx for the heads up and i have your info in case i have a question later.

hi, thanks.
Blue rock is in the high allegheny mountains of west virginia, nearest big town is Elkins , or Buckhannon.
We are about 3 hours from Pitttsburg, Pa.

Yes , we have our property listed , we have had no offers in the first 6 months of listing. We did have a couple of "lookers".

So now that I may have a new job , we are reconsidering our options.
We do still have the property for sale , and were palnning on moving in the spring regardless , but now we are not sure.
Funny how life is , maybe we weren't meant to leave.
I guess I am saying it kinda depends on the Job and whetther i get it and whether i like it !
i would be willing to stay and we would probabaly still try to sell and eventually retire in Virginia in a few years .LOL , it maught take that long to sell .
boy the real estate market is really bad right now.

Wish me luck !

I worked 8+ years for the Texas Dept of criminal justice ID. I worked at a mens maximum security prison. I worked 2+ years in the building, then 6 years as a field officer. That is supervising a squad of offenders while working in the unit garden, cleaning fence rows ,underbrushing etc.......You have to be firm, fair and consistant! Common sense is of the utmost importance. There is a book that is a must read,I have forgotton the author but the title is "Games Inmates Play".And boy howdy do they! I was a divorced mom of 3,and don't know how I would have made it without that job. Be afraid every day You walk through those gates,The day you are not "QUIT". never let your guard down, trust no one. I was one of the naive ones that said that invironment wouldn't change me. It DID! You don't even see it coming. It just seems like one day you wake up with a cold heart. It has taken years to thaw. I remarried and DH wanted me to quit, I gladly obliged. It seems we sometimes have to do what we have to do,so with that said good luck! If you have any questions my e-mail address is [email protected] micah

hi everyone, well i had my interview today and I think it went well.
I must say it was not as I expected !
The Library is small and the books are kinda outdated.
The main issue , of course , is security.
It sems that i would be more of a security person than a librarian.
anyway , I also learned that I would have to complete and get a score of 80 at a 4 week basic training , this was a surprise!
Well , I guess I am really not savy on this type of work!
Anyway , I am still game for it .We will see if I get the position , after a background check and the whole nine yards of other stuff !
Also , I know they were interviewing at least one oth:fler person for the position.
wish me luck, again!

also , there is no INTERNET , even in the librarians office , the inmates might hack into it.(
barnie.gif
)THAT WILL TAKE GETTING USED TO !
they have a big law library that is computerised on one side of the library.
also a big issue now is contraband in the form of cigarettes , the inmates are wiling to pay up to 150.00 for a pack ! WOW:eek: and
of course immediate dismissal for the smuggler.

My DD worked at the pcc for 10 years and my SIL still works for them.
This was a job I would NEVER have thought my DD would take, she was always a soft heart ed shy person, but she was there for 10 years. she was the person that checked them in when they were arrested, My SIL Is now a Sargent at one of the more dangerous prisons in central Fla. But they pay good, have good ins. and a great retirement program. Good luck. marrie If you have any questions PM me and I will call her about giving you her e mail address for any questions

thanks marrie.
that is good to know.
I hope i pass the background check and the "boot camp"
ha ha , mainly worried about the "boot camp'
When I told DH about it , his eyes got BIG

I think he was more suprised than me !
thanks again,
nancy
