Corrugated plastic roof

Roofing like this or the stuff from Home Depot? Either works.

That's what I used. Works great and easy to install. I alternated opaque colors with translucent panels to provide both sun and shade. The sun is especially welcome this time of year when it's below freezing. The run warms up so much faster when the sun comes back out.

I used it, thought it a great idea until we had a horrible rain/wind storm & a corner caved in. Went back to Home Depot, they apologized and said they'd refund me ... I had taken pictures. I then called the manufactures, they told me our "extreme" summer heat may have been the cause of the material weakening  Thought this was of green houses? Anyway we replaced with corrugated material.

After seeing @Brahma Chicken5000 pictures of the rafters, ours may have been too wide, think Hubby did a 14" spacing. Loved that it was light weight & let light in.

Spacing is 2 feet apart between rafters the rafters that run parallel to the roof panels.

The Home Depot or Lowe's material usually has a 2 foot span limitation. Commercial panels similar to metal building translucent panels will span 5 feet and need less support than from a building supply. Either panel should support normal roof loads on a coop, of the support spacing and fastener spacing and type requirements are met.

Ok, now I see what our problem was, we should have supported with horizontal rafters as well as vertical ...
