This is Cosmonaut.... He has had this neck problem ever since he was dropped off at my house as a day old chick. I didn’t know what to do or how to treat and I REALLY didn’t want to cull him.... He is a barred rock (?) rooster and a lifelong pal! He is just over a year old (really surprising in my opinion) and I love him very much and I’d like to think he loves me too!!
As for feeding he gets 3 large - medium sized eggs each day, all flock feed, and fresh veggies a few days a week, oh and LOTS of love!!
Here’s my little wonder - Also it rained so he’s a bit muddy (I’ll have to wash him up)

It sounds like you are giving him what he needs since he is over a year old.
Poultry vitamins once every other week won't hurt. I'm sure you do this, but if he doesn't dust bath regularly, I would give him a weekly check for external parasites. Does he seem to be able to preen himself o.k.?

As for what caused him to be this way....if he was like this from day one, the I would have to guess genetic disorder or possibly improper incubation.

No, he is not able to dust bathe or preen himself whatsoever and it breaks my heart so I do weekly and very thorough parasite checks and when it rains if I don’t provide a nice bath for him, the mud will mat and clump to his feathers. Thank you wyorp rock! :)

You can put powder for mites/flees in the spot where he sleeps , that way he will stay clean from bugs .

Vitamin E capsules added to food or dropper Fed is said to help ..

Is that skin I see ? If he’s being pecked I’d give him his own coop, he is an easy target .

He is beautiful and you have a big ❤️To take the extra time with him
