Are they still very rare and hard to come by? Is there anyone within a days drive of north east Oklahoma selling them?
I want to raise geese for all the reasons, meat, eggs, to sell, weeding, and so on. I had a mixed flock when I was a teen, and I’ve always missed them. But I’d love to contribute to this rare breed.
I remember years ago there were waiting list just to get day old pairs.
Thanks

Yeah. I’ve been looking here and there, and I have sent out a few emails, there was a breeder listed in KS, and one in TX.
It seems like most of the happenings with them is only being posted in Facebook. Hopefully someone with influence within the breed following starts putting stuff elsewhere. Because they are not livestock friendly at all on that platform.
I’m going to look for Shetlands, and Pilgrims too. I had a pilgrim once, supper sweet little bird.
If I can’t get any this year, then hopefully next year. I don’t have any experience hatching eggs. Nor do I have an incubator. So traveling for live birds, and being patient is going to be required I am sure.

Atlas Homestead in Cooper, Texas breeds Pilgrims. They are on Facebook if you want to contact them.
I might do that. Thank you! I really want to raise quality birds. But I’d also like to raise some for meat this year. So I’ve got to figure out what I want to do. Because I know I won’t want to process any cotton patch I buy.

I did check the online directory, and the lady in KS got back with me. She is about 3 hours from me. And she will have birds available this year. I’m so excited!
