That's awesome!! I hope they do well. :) What color did you get? I just had one hatch about half an hour ago and 2 more pipped! I'm so excited I can hardly hold still lol. The first one hasn't fluffed up yet but the feathers are definitely a golden color. Even wet its unmistakable

Since this is my first quail hatch I just got all wild types and 2 jumbos. Going to be the longest 17 days :/ let's hope you get more :D can you post pictures when they dry up?

Hopefully you don't go almost 3 days over like me lol I will definitely post pics! I've been staring in the bator nonstop almost since the first hatched. Had to browse this site to distract myself :p It's going to be a loooooong night I think :) That's cool that you got a variety. I may check out the stromberg site to give myself something to do. I don't think I've ever run across it before

From what I can tell they are good. They packaged nicely and made sure It was all labeled and sen extras. they have a good variety with eggs at 1.56 each so not the cheapest but they got here in good condition and I think I will get good hatch rates out of them

I've been paying about $3 an egg for my chicken eggs so that sounds pretty good to me. The fewer spots the easier they are to candle. A lot of people say not to bother because it's almost impossible with the coturnix spots but I did just once out of curiosity. I could see veining clearly and that was good enough for me.

Yup that's the golden. It's body is about the size of a quarter so I guess the golden Italians run on the jumbo end of the coturnix scale. The regulars I saw were the size of nickels. Every time I talk near the bator the little chick gets all excited and tries to climb the walls. So cute :-D

I use to get chicken eggs for 50 cents each

I dont think im going to candle lol. i have a bad past record of dropping eggs while trying to candle. Did you get the golder just for looks or are you going to be working on a morph or something? I find it so interesting how something so little can break through that shell and be up in walking in a few hours

Well if I wanted standard chickens I could get a nice variety at about $2/dozen anytime I felt like taking a quick drive. Duck eggs are easy to come by too. There's a lot of local egg sellers around here. Unfortunately, I have a thing for the bantams and the one breed of duck I wanted, nobody local has. Figures LOL If I could get bantam eggs for 50 cents each I'd load up! Or at least fill both incubators to capacity

Hmmm I've had a few oopses with candling too. In fact I have a silkie egg in my incubator right now that has nail polish on it due to an oops. Luckily the egg it dropped onto happened to be a duck egg so only the silkie egg suffered any damage. I've heard stories about dropping and egg onto another egg and both getting smashed up so I felt a little better that it was just the one. I'm really hoping the nail polish does the trick. It's been developing great so far.

I got the golden for the looks for now and eventually I will probably try playing with colors.

Quail hatch much faster than chickens. Or at least this one did. It took all of maybe 5 minutes to pip, zip, and pop itself out. He/she is very active already. It's amazing that they go through all that work to be born and then run around making all kinds of racket so soon too. Although I'm hoping all that noise will encourage the rest of the eggs. If I could get at least one male and one female I'd be happy. I checked into Stromberg's. WOW... I haven't decided if I hope that I remember the site in the spring when everything starts becoming available or not. I think my wish list doubled in size while I was browsing
