Coturnix in the bator tomorrow - ANYONE ELSE?

Czech's_chicks :

I think mine are due to hatch after the first week so I can't do a hatch for the 3rd....would love to do the following week or so?

And how do you candle quail eggs? Never tried, myself, just because they are so small and the shell always seemed much thicker than shells so I never attempted.

I have a very bright 21 buld LED bike light, usually works very well for candling, but these shells are thick, tinted and blotched with brown. I'll be able to tell more once the embryos start to fill the eggs. I'll join in your hatching thread if you dont mind, I'll just be hatching a week early and building the excitement lol.

I love them. They are really gentle. Taboo as it may be, I alway sraise mine with chicks and I really think it helps calm them down, because they can get awful flighty. Guess thismeans about 3-4 weeks after they hatch, I'll have to get more chicks, lol!

I've heard someone else say that they kept a single chick with their quail chicks and the quail ended up being more tame

I set 32 on 9/14. This will be my second time to hatch quail, (coturnix). I have 6 little ones popping around now that hatched on 8/29. I got these eggs from a swap thread, but hope to be hatching my own from now on, once these get big enough.

15 hatched with in the last 2 days and now 12 more in hatching tray and more in the incubator - I love baby quail !
Good Luck !
