When I first got started I accidentally generated a italian colored rooster that had pretty much every color character I breed for in Italians nowadays. Back then I was pretty much just eating them hadn't even started selling chicks. I paired him off with three girls in a 2.5x2.5 ft cage. Everything was fine for about two weeks, then one day a hen cut her foot a little bit on the wire. I noticed her doing the popcorn thing and generally just bothering the other birds with her. I was on my way to work so I let it be. Not sure exactly what happened but two of the hens had a ton of blood stains and the roo was cold, stiff and most plucked when I got home. Their little pea brains are hanging by a fragile thread.
