Coturnix Quail Basics- Information and Pictures Galore

I have a question.....is it okay to put coturnix quail in with my bantam chickens? They have a coop and huge run. Id think theyd like it in there better than the hutch. I was thinking about getting one male and maybe 4 or 5 female. Do the females go broody? If not will a silkie work?

Chickens can carry diseases that quail can catch which can be detrimental, such as mycoplasmas (coryza). If you want to raise quail, hatch them in an incubator (ok with chicken eggs), raise them in their own cages and hutches (no sharing with chicken).

OMG That helped me sooo much! I just received 30 Coturnix Quail eggs and just started incubating them yesterday. I'll keep everybody updated and will most definetly post pictures!!!

I've learned a lot from here. Very helpful and prevents disasters. Quail are so completely different than chicken. Both taste good though.
