Do Coturnix quail do well in rabbit hutches like this? I like the idea of them having more space. I considered putting wire mesh inside the coop at an incline so eggs will roll then having sand in the run.

Any reasons why this is a good or bad idea? Any other suggestions? Thank you!

do make sure that they are smart enough to go up the ramp.

Mine usually were... but not always.

Other than that, looks great.

And the inclined mesh might work... if they decide to lay there. Wouldn't hurt to try.

If you get lots of wind, maybe put plastic on one run side.

I have five coturnix living in a rabbit hutch, they dug a small hole on the ground and thats where they lay their eggs even though i gave them a nesting box, but they are A&M quail soooo.... It works perfect for me though, i keep thier food and water in the top covered part

Did you have to teach them how to walk up there? I ended up getting a similar hutch to this and they just stay on the bottom. Maybe if I kept their food and water up there, they'd have more motivation lol. It's only been a couple days but I've kept their food in the run because I was worried they wouldn't know how to find it lol

Is it covered with 1/2" hardware cloth? Also, I would put a tin roof over the run area....more shade and helps keep the rain out of the run area. Other than that, should be fine.

Yes it is. I actually ended up buying this one so it's even better!
