Couch to 5k - training for people new to running

The coach says my calves are too tight and it pulls on a muscle under my foot causing it to be too tight and so when I run there is no shock absorbtion so its like running barefoot on concrete so I have to take a rolling pin on my calves to relax them and ice my feet everyday.

I am sooo jealous of everyone starting this program! I've actually had it bookmarked for a couple of months now waiting on my knee surgery so I can start the program. So, on Wed I had the surgery and when my Dr came to tell me that I was all better now he actually said I had arthritis! And then advised me against doing the program.

Not so thrilled with my doctor. Watch me do it anyway. Well, when the swelling goes down, right now my knee looks like a basketball.

OH OH OH I RAN TODAY! my foot felt better, kinda hurts when I sit for too long and I am not on it and then get up on it but otherwise doesn't hurt. I iced it in a bucket of ice for 10 minutes burns and stings like crazy until it goes numb then its one of the best feelings ever as long as you don't move your feet. During cross country season we take ice BATHS where we sit in huge tubs of ice water.

so I cant believe I didnt post this earlier in the day, but I think I made a HUGE mistake. I hadnt run except that few minutes last week since before I went on vacation and then last night (due to other circumstances) I got really angry both at another person and myself and decided I was running this morning no matter what. So I decided to try to do the 5 and 3 min intervals and see how it went and instead I decided to run the whole thing! The whole flipping three miles. However, I ache like crazy and I threw up after my run...but it WAS nice knowing I could do it...and it took FOREVER. But oh well...needless to say I'm going to get back on the program where I should be and avoid the injuries I probably did to myself this morning! Lol (emz, I should have listened like you!)

How about this for training - Let your horses escape after dark and spend 3 solid hours jogging around looking for them. I bet I covered 10 miles and my legs are twitching they hurt so bad!!!! .....and I didn't do that on purpose...they busted out on their own

And that is the reason I am still up at almost 11pm.

Skipped the running for a bike ride today. A mile and a half to the store and back. BAD decision. That bike will be sitting where it is for a while. Stupid bike. I do think I burned off lunch though! That's a ++++

. I have started walking all the dogs, to the stop sign (half a mile and back) I ain't ready for individual walks, but they are getting good at walking together.

Some of my DHs famous words.... "when you start puking while your running then you know it's working!" So even if I don't puke while on my run I say I did

I have to say I wasnt near as sore today as I thought I would be...it couldve been the preemptive strike of ibruprofin tho...hmmm But even tho I'm a slacker partying too hard tonight I plan on getting up tommorrow and starting at week5, day 2... Ifigure after the other day I should be able to handle that no problem and wont kill myself...tho I'll have to remember to puke ;-)
