Hi all,
I have one chicken in my flock of 17 chickens and a rooster, who has developed a cough. It's almost like a hiccup, or a tiny little sneeze that happens constantly. So far no runny nose - but she tends to be the outcast chicken in the coop and I'm wondering if it is stress related. No other chickens seem to have the symptoms. Almost all are going thru molt, down to 2 eggs a day for the whole batch of them. Hoping I don't have something serious, but I'm wondering about bronchitis. If so - what is the best way to deal with the problem?
Thank you

Thank you - good read. Is there anything we can do - any kind of meds we can give the flock?
My whole flock probably has it. I have one that's like yours, the others don't show any symptoms... yet.

If you cull, I don't think it would help unless you culled the entire flock. Or if you don't plan on selling chickens or fertile eggs, you could do what I'm doing which is keeping a closed flock. I will keep an eye on them and try to keep them as stress free as possible. If they show signs of secondary infection I'll treat for that. I keep VetRX and Tylan 50 handy.

If I need to add to my flock, I'll introduce birds I raise from day old chicks to minimize bringing in other disease and I'll accept there's the possibility that I may have losses when new birds are infected with what my old flock has. It sucks but it's not the end of the world.
