Well I know @featherhead007 girls like to play in the mud and he cleans them up to come inside and watch movies.I was wandering the same thing. Unless their bottoms are dirty from diarrhea.
But I'd like to know why other people do it too.
I giggle.

When I have a wet chicken, I can look real close for mites, fleas or wounds while drying them off they even look good as new! then I go wash my car.... for the same reason! LOL![]()
AND then eat ice cream cones?
sometimes, yes![]()

I am going to have to suggest that you do not buy that same bird or any from that person again.
Chicken diseases don't just go away/get cured. Symptoms may improve but the bird is usually a carrier for life.

People that show their birds do give them a thorough washing, but I would question why this lady bathed the hen before she brought her to you. It could be all innocent, but being one who questions everything, I can come up with plenty of nefarious reasons too
