It might be something to do with their breed. Are they ameraucanas? Unless you can feel puffiness under the skin that feels like a leaking air sac, I would guess that it is just the poofiness of the back of the neck of the breed.

Thank you. Yes, they are lavenders. It looked like a golf ball sized lump to me, maybe she just lost some weight being sick so its popping out more.
