Do you think the all white poult will look like a royal palm? I know broad breasted birds don’t live long, but I don’t think it could be one, none of my birds are broad breasted but those are the only two white turkeys I know ofDefinitely not a Rusty Slate.
White turkeys can happen in any variety. Royal Palms do start out white and start developing some color when the wing colors come in.Do you think the all white poult will look like a royal palm? Can you tell if a turkey is split to white like you can with peafowl? Split to white peafowl will have at least one white primary feather. The fact that your Slate tom is not a Lavender makes it likely that he is the father of the poults. If he is split to white (carrying the recessive white color gene) makes it possible to produce white poults when mated with a hen that is also split to white.
No. They can be split to white without any outside sign of it as far as I know. Can you tell if a turkey is split to white like you can with peafowl? Split to white peafowl will have at least one white primary feather.
Thank you very much for your helpWhite turkeys can happen in any variety. Royal Palms do start out white and start developing some color when the wing colors come in.
Just because a turkey is white doesn't automatically mean it is broad breasted. Beltsville Small White aren't broad breasted.
For it to be a Royal Palm means at least one of the toms would have to be carrying a Narragansett color gene.
